He Finishes What He Starts

For I am confident of this very thing, that He who began a good work in you will perfect it until the day of Christ Jesus. Philippians 1:6

Once the Lord has his hooks in you he will not let you go. He’s going to work you over until you’re perfected. A truly saved person will not be allowed to drift off into persistent sin. He might be able to for a time but he’ll be one miserable soul. The spirit of God who resides in the saved cannot abide the practice of sin, and steps will be taken to right the ship. These may be painful and consequential, but they’ll be motivated by love and regulated by mercy. His aim for us all is found in verses 1:9-11.
