House of Cards

You will be filled with disgrace rather than honor. Now you yourself drink and expose your own nakedness. The cup in the LORD’S right hand will come around to you, and utter disgrace will come upon your glory. Habakkuk 2:16

Evil abounds on earth just as it always has. The machinations of men drive them to do foolish and evil things, as if there was no sheriff in town. “Your sins will find you out,” they say, and they do!

Day after day we hear of powerful, successful men who took advantage of who they thought were weak-armed or weak-minded. They’re called out and lose everything. They get their just deserts, as they say, in the end.

What a shame! All that creative energy and brilliance employed imbibingconniving and bribing. How fast the house of cards comes tumbling down!

In the end, the righteous man of meager means is left standing. He’s cheerful and content, having looked back with no regrets, because he lived his life by his faith.

But the righteous will live by his faith. Habakkuk 2:4
