Arbiters of Truth

For all the gods of the peoples are idols, But the Lord made the heavens. Psalm 96:5 (NAS)

We spend a lot of time catering to the “gods of the peoples.” Almost in every corner someone is ordering you around or exerting his or her modicum of sway over you. This may come from political office, a PhD, a badge, or a yellow vest. This is fine to a degree to keep order and promote the “health and welfare” of society, but it never stops there. Like a drug, any semblance of power can go to your head.

So much better to be led by the Lord who made the heavens using ”real power.” He will judge the people with equity, or actually “uprightness.” He knows what’s good for us, can be fully trusted, and can be counted on to be fair.

Can we say the same for the many arbiters of “truth” these days? I think not.
