Evidence that Demands a Verdict

18 And all who heard it wondered at the things which were told them by the shepherds. 19 But Mary treasured all these things, pondering them in her heart.

Luke 2:18–19 (NAS)

We can see God working and be surprised, or we can, like Mary, deposit it all in our hearts and study it over time. We all should have evidence that demands a verdict and Mary was amassing quite an open and shut case. She would need all these memories when she would see her son hanging in agony on the cross. Many scorned him because when it mattered the most, he could not save himself. Mary would have known that that was something he would not and could not do.

To the extent that we can, with the help and guidance of the Holy Spirit, we need to understand his ways. We will get that window in if we seek it. Less wondering and more pondering.
